Gods Work. Our Hands.

…the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do…
Today is God’s Work, Our Hand’s Sunday. It is also Rally day for our Sunday School Program. It will be an exciting day as we re-orientate to the fall schedule and we have the special programs of community work and mission. God’s Work Our Hands is a program by the ELCA that encourages congregations to connect with the communities in service and mission. It is a Sunday to go out beyond our walls and engage the people around us. We will have eight different projects people can participate in from preparing food and Blessing Bags, to landscaping, singing, hospital supplies, and advocacy of NO HATE HERE. We ask everyone, young and old alike, to join in the fun and come back and share a lunch and tell your stories.
Today is also the start of Sunday School. When we went to one service in the spring, our Sunday School was no longer sandwiched between two services at a guaranteed time. Because of that, it lost some of its participation. This Fall we will start Sunday School at 11:00am with a class bell. We will announce what is happening in every class and where they will meet in the Weekly Post. We will have two adult options, an adult forum and a bible study. We value the time that everyone has to learn and share our faith at church during Sunday School.
Today, join in the spirit of the excitement of the day and enjoy being part of the church, reaching out in service, and sharing our story at Sunday School and at lunch. Welcome back to the Fall Season!

The Gospel Reading: John 14:8-14
Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; but if you do not, then believe me because of the works themselves. Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it.
