Busy Fingers Ministry

Holy Trinity’s Busy Fingers group is a needle crafting team which provides a prayer shawl ministry for those in sorrow or dealing with a chronic illness. The group also provides baby blankets for the newly baptized, and scarves for our college students. We usually meet the first and third Saturday of the month.  Although our in-person meetings have been on hiatus due to COVID, we hope to start getting together again soon.  Not a needlecraft expert but interested in learning? Come join us!  Please contact Sandy Phillips (mikephi@verizon.net) or Gretchen Luebbe (gmluebbe@verizon.net) for more information.

Backpack Buddies

The Backpack Buddies Program is in need of the following specific donations:
Individual servings of ravioli
100% juice boxes,
Rice Krispie bars
Cheez -Its
Thank you for your continued support of this program in partnership with Frederick Douglass Elementary School.
Childhood hunger is a very real problem and we CAN make a difference each week with our food and financial donations! Questions? Contact Pat and Roger Bailey at baileyva@mac.com

Since 2012, Holy Trinity has successfully partnered with Frederick Douglass Elementary in Leesburg by providing Christmas gifts through our Angel Tree outreach program. Our Social Ministry Committee has expanded this collaboration with Douglass by joining together with them in their Backpack Buddies program. In Loudoun County there are over 11,000 children that are food insecure. Food insecurity is defined as the “limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe food.” At Frederick Douglass, there are nearly 90 children classified as “food insecure”. Every Friday, the Backpack Buddies program sends home a bag of individual serving-size foods sufficient for the weekend needs of these children.  Holy Trinity members and Little Blessings families are asked to consider donating different foods from the Backpack Buddies list of needed items. Please place the items in the shopping cart in the Gathering Area. Social Ministry members will deliver these to Frederick Douglass for inclusion in the weekend backpacks.

All are welcome! We will need drivers. Please bring $10 for admission and $15 for lunch at the Basilica. We will return to Holy Trinity at 3:00 PM. Please let Pastor Gerry know if you would like to go and if you would like to drive.

Adult Sunday School

As Advent approaches and during the four weeks of Advent, we will look at the book of Isaiah as it provides many wonderful readings about the promise of a Savior for the nations. Isaiah gives us Jesus the titles of “The Prince of Peace, Immanuel, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.” Join us for this discussion of Isaiah’s beautiful witness in the Old Testament.
