Mothers Day Tea

The Women's Club of Loudoun hosted a Little Blessings Mother’s Day Tea! Lisa Harvey provided the lovely tea place settings, and club members supplied the delicious treats and helped get everything set up so the mothers and children could enjoy this special day together.

Classics Senior Adult Group

On April 23, eleven members of the Classics toured the Frederick Douglass High School on East Market Street in Leesburg. Jim Roberts, a lifelong resident of Leesburg, led the tour.

We learned several significant facts about the school’s history. Despite being told by the school board that there were no funds for a school site, the parents and community raised $4,000 through bake sales and donations. They purchased the property in secret, and after being told they could not build on private land, they sold it to the school board for $1.  We also learned that Loudoun County was the last county in Virginia to end segregation. Following the tour, the group had lunch at the Loudoun Kitchen.

Additionally, on May 8, fifteen members carpooled to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, for lunch at the Dobbin House Tavern. Afterward, we visited the Gettysburg Museum of History. The museum’s entire collection was amassed by a single individual who began collecting while in elementary school.

We will be headed to Williams Gap Winery in Round Hill, June 18th.  We will be having lunch at Williams Gap Winery, located at 35521 Sexton Farm Lane, Round Hill. Mary has coordinated with the venue to let them know we are visiting primarily for lunch. Please note that non-alcoholic wine and beer are available. Since travel time is approximately 30 minutes, please arrive at the church by 11:20 AM so we can depart promptly at 11:30 AM. Please RSVP to 4Peverhart@gmail.com by June 15 and indicate if you will need a ride or if you are able to drive.

Who are the Classics?

If you are retired, you qualify to be a Classic!

We Lutheran’s like to eat, so food is always included with whatever we decide to do. Is there something or some place you think would be fun? If so, please share it with us. We really hope you will join us and become part of our ‘Classics Family’ here at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

The Classics visited the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley April 23.

We met 14 towering dinosaurs and prehistoric animals made from scrap metal and found objects by Minnesota artist Dale Lewis. Each sculpture, in a uniquely imaginative way, blended art and history!  We also enjoyed seeing the gardens and museum.

Women’s Mary/Martha WELCA circle

The Mary/Martha Circle of The Women of the ELCA (WELCA) meet every month on the First Tuesday, at 10:00 am in the commons.  At our meeting we do outreach activities, book studies, and planning for future activities.  And of course we enjoy the fellowship of being together.

WELCA Mary/ Martha Circle will conclude our year with a meeting on Tuesday, June 12th at 10 a.m. in the Commons area.

What a great year it’s been! In the Spring of 2023 we finished our year with 4 members – Spring of 2026 finds our roster has grown to 15 women from the HTLC congregation. What a blessing!

Our year was highlighted by providing monthly lunches to the Loudoun Homeless Shelter and the book study of Joan Chittester’s The Gift of Years. In addition, we reached outside of our circle to the Holy Trinity congregation, the Leesburg community, and the needs of the international scene.

September: In honor of the passing of WELCA founding member Betty Schafer, WELCA made a donation to the HTLC roofing fund. We also funded a restocking of the“accident” clothes for Frederick Douglass Elementary.

October: a very successful sub sale with all monies designated to be used for the roofing fund.

November: The congregation joined us by generously providing Thanksgiving food bags and grocery gift cards for families at Frederick Douglass.

December: WELCA sponsored four children from the Angel Tree.

February: found us collecting Giant gift cards to provide pantry restocks for families designated as homeless at Douglass.

March: During the 2026 Lenten season, WELCA sponsored the third annual “10 CHICKS for $10” outreach. We were delighted to have Holy Trinity and Little Blessings preschool donate $1420 which was sent to the international ELCA Good Gifts program.

April: our circle funded a Spring restocking of clothes for the children at Frederick Douglass – over 60 pair of underwear, shorts, and sweatpants were delivered.

WELCA Mary/Martha will complete our year with a (very) delayed Christmas luncheon on June 12th at Travinia’s. Before we adjourn for a restful summer, we will be donating funds to the Youth group for their Lights at the Laundromat project. Our circle is extremely proud of our congregation’s youth in taking this wonderful step into community outreach!

We welcome any woman interested to join us in the Fall!

Blessings,

Pat Bailey, President

Flower & Garden Festival

We had a wonderful time at the Leesburg flower and garden festival!  Saturday was crowded and fun.  Sunday morning's rain and windstorm provided some challenges, but by the afternoon we were in full swing with lots of kids drawing their parents to our booth to spin the wheel!  The Laundry Clip butterfly coloring station was a great place for kids and parents to take a break, and so many were excited to take home milkweed seed to support the butterflies.

Women’s GLOW WELCA Circle

February 25, 2026 Update
We voted on the new name of our group–we will be the WELCA – GLOW circle. GLOW stands for “Grace Lights Our Way”. We liked this based on our meeting time in the evening, as well as the meaning behind the name.
We have also decided to have 2 service leads to help with some projects:
  1. Betsy will lead our efforts outside the church, and will reach out to groups outside our church to see where we may be able to help.
  2. Pam will lead efforts to help lead “God’s Work, Our Hands” this year.
Please reach out to them if you’d like to be involved or have ideas for either of those items.
Finally, we have decided to forego a book, and instead do devotions each month focused on one of the women of the Bible, and what we can learn from their stories. Petra volunteered to lead our first devotion next month, and we will be looking at Rachel and her story.
Our next meeting will be the last Wednesday in March, 3/25, at 6 pm. Please join us if you are able!
Thanks!
Ann

Confirmation Class

SUNDAYS at 8:45 AM and WEDNESDAYS at 4:30 PM

Our Confirmation program:

  • Confirmation Class SUNDAYS at 8:45 AM and WEDNESDAYS at 4:30 PM
  • 6th-8th Grades
  • 2 year program
  • This year we are studying the Bible – God’s word.

At Holy Trinity we are very excited for a new year of Confirmation Ministry. Confirmation is a two-year program that is geared to students in their Middle School years. Students are asked to participate for two consecutive years: grades 6-7, grades 7-8 or grades 8-9. During these years youth are developing in so many ways. They are learning about who they are and how they fit into the world. It is a wonderful time to explore their faith and grow spiritually, as well.

It is our hope that students attend class on both Sundays and Wednesdays, however, we understand that this is not always possible. The expectation is that students attend at least one confirmation class each week.
